“A Kiss to Light the Darkness!”

Few comics capture romantic tension quite like this September 1970 entry in DC's long-running Secret Hearts series. The cover, penciled by Don Heck and inked by Tony DeZuniga, drops us into a charged three-way standoff: a young blonde woman in a pink minidress stands at a doorway between a man reclining on a bed and a dark-suited man watching from the hall, with the words "Make your choice, baby — him or me… Money or Love!" hanging in the air. Promising "The Tears and the Joys of Secret Hearts," issue #146 also teases the story "Wasting My Love on You!" right on the cover, making it clear this issue delivers the full emotional rollercoaster that National Romance Group readers loved.
