Seaguy #2
Cameron Stewart's cover for this August 2004 Vertigo issue captures something genuinely enchanting: Seaguy in a full diving suit tumbles through the submerged streets of what appears to be an ancient sunken city, its grand columned buildings looming in the murky blue-green depths while colorful tropical fish drift freely around him. The warm golds and oranges of those fish against the cool underwater atmosphere make for a striking visual, and the story title "The Wasps of Atlantis" promises the kind of delightfully strange adventure Grant Morrison and Cameron Stewart do so well together. It's a quietly surreal Vertigo gem from 2004 that wears its imagination right on the cover.
