“The Gray Man”

The whole Mystery Inc. gang is having a rough day on the beach — Shaggy plants a stake into the sand while Scooby scrambles beside him, and Fred, Daphne, and Velma are literally blown sideways by a ferocious wave-driven storm in the background, with a spooky house looming in the distance. Joe Staton's pencils and Dave Hunt's inks deliver a wonderfully chaotic scene that captures the gang at the mercy of the elements, teasing the "Storm Warning!" premise with real energy. Issue #80 of DC's Scooby-Doo is a fun 2004 entry in the long-running series, featuring Michael Kraiger's story "The Gray Man" brought to life by artist Robert Pope and the full creative team.
