“Don't Play Dummy with Me!”

The Dragon's Eye storyline reaches its conclusion in this January 2003 issue of DC's Scooby-Doo!, and the cover by Joe Staton makes it look like quite the send-off — Shaggy thrusts a glowing green gem skyward while Scooby clings to him in terror, the two of them surrounded on all sides by an army of eerie, skeletal warrior figures rising from the earth. The vivid green-and-orange palette gives the whole scene an otherworldly, ancient-curse energy that perfectly captures the Saturday-morning spirit pushed just a little toward the spooky. Fans of the gang's monster-wrangling adventures will find plenty to enjoy here.
