Scarlet Witch (Vol. 4) #7 is part of Orlando's second consecutive Scarlet Witch ongoing series, itself a direct continuation of the 2023 Vol. 3 series and the 2024 Scarlet Witch & Quicksilver miniseries — making it one thread in the longest unbroken stretch of solo Wanda comics any creative team had produced. Orlando had noted publicly that the collaborative team, including cover artist Russell Dauterman (who also redesigned Wanda's look for the broader run) and interior artist Lorenzo Tammetta, operated with a strong sense of shared editorial investment in rehabilitating and expanding the character. The issue shipped December 11, 2024, with a February 2025 cover date, under editor Alanna Smith and editor-in-chief C.B. Cebulski.

This is the second appearance of Amaranth (Aaf Capmi Piap), a new character originally designed by artist Jen Bartel for Marvel's New Champions variant cover program and introduced into continuity in Scarlet Witch (Vol. 4) #6 the prior month.
Amaranth is established in-universe as the daughter of the abstract entities Witchcraft and Chaos — a cosmic origin rooted in story threads laid down in the 2017 Scarlet Witch series by James Robinson.
Antagonist is Nicholas Scratch, son of Agatha Harkness, who traps Wanda, Wiccan, Speed, and Amaranth in a supernatural carnival funhouse set within New Salem, Colorado — a long-standing Marvel location tied to the hidden community of witches.
The issue reunites Wanda with her sons Wiccan (Billy Kaplan) and Speed (Tommy Shepherd), the Young Avengers characters whose existence stems from Wanda's magically created children in the 1985–86 Vision and the Scarlet Witch series by Steve Englehart.
Three variant covers were published alongside the main Dauterman cover: a Peach Momoko variant, an Imogene Chayes Marvel Studios variant, and an Audrey Mok Winter Holiday variant.
The series this issue belongs to was followed directly by The Vision & the Scarlet Witch (2025) miniseries — also written by Orlando — timed to the 50th anniversary of Vision and Wanda's Marvel Comics wedding.
