Scarlet Witch (2024) #1 is the opening chapter of Steve Orlando's second consecutive solo Wanda Maximoff ongoing, picking up directly from both the 2023 series and the Scarlet Witch & Quicksilver miniseries to form an unusually sustained, writer-consistent arc for the character. The issue is notable for pulling a genuine Golden Age obscurity back into continuity: Mantor the Magician, whose only previous Marvel appearance was a backup strip in Human Torch Comics #2 (Fall 1940), shows up as Wanda's Emporium staff—then dies violently in the same issue, making this simultaneously his modern reintroduction and his in-continuity death. History

Steve Orlando began his Scarlet Witch tenure with the 2023 solo series (collecting as Vol. 1: The Last Door), then bridged to this title through the four-issue Scarlet Witch & Quicksilver miniseries celebrating the twins' 60th anniversary. Marvel relaunched the ongoing under a new #1 in June 2024 with Jacopo Camagni—previously known for X-Men Red—replacing the miniseries' Lorenzo Tammetta as interior artist, while Russell Dauterman continued as cover artist and Alanna Smith remained editor. Orlando described the new volume as bringing 'the blockbuster storytelling of Scarlet Witch and Quicksilver to the focused, personal journey Wanda began in Darkhold and Scarlet Witch,' indicating a deliberate escalation in scope.
