Vertigo's gritty reservation noir continues with Scalped #2, the second chapter of "Indian Country." Jock's cover pulls two figures into close, tense proximity — a hard-edged man and a woman rendered in a searing wash of burnt orange and gold — while a tattooed midriff bearing the words "NDN For Life" anchors the image in a world of fierce identity and loyalty. Writer Jason Aaron and artist R. M. Guéra are building something raw and compelling here, and this 2007 issue makes clear that Scalped is a series with its own unmistakable voice.
