“Dead Mothers - Part Four”

Jason Aaron and R.M. Guéra's Scalped was one of Vertigo's most gripping crime series, and issue #16 delivers a striking visual statement to close out the "Dead Mothers" arc. Jock's cover says it all without a word: two figures — one dark-haired, one with a shaved head — stand back-to-back, their bodies bound together by a chaotic tangle of multicolored wires against a weathered map background, suggesting inescapable connection and conflict. It's a tense, quietly unsettling image that perfectly captures the moral entanglements at the heart of this reservation noir.
