Sandman #65

Part nine of "The Kindly Ones" arrives with a Dave McKean cover that is pure atmosphere: a golden, mummy-like mask with bared teeth dominates the foreground, wreathed in flickering orange flame, while a narrow, dimly lit archway recedes into the background behind it. The effect is genuinely unsettling — heat and ancient dread pressed into a single image. Neil Gaiman, Marc Hempel, and Richard Case continue their extended arc in this December 1994 Vertigo chapter, and McKean's painted cover makes a compelling case for picking it up.
