Part of Neil Gaiman's celebrated "Distant Mirrors" arc, this August 1991 issue takes its title from the French Revolutionary calendar month — a fitting hint at the historical territory the story explores. Dave McKean's cover art is characteristically haunting: a finely rendered, sketch-like face dominates the composition, a luminous crescent moon shape hovering near the figure's cheek, all rendered in deep crosshatched tones against an off-white background. With interiors by Stan Woch and Dick Giordano, this is a quietly unsettling chapter in one of DC's most ambitious series of the era.
