Sandman #[10]
This Polish edition of Sandman — subtitled "Refleksje i Przypowieści, Część I" — arrives from Egmont Polska in 2005 with a deeply unsettling cover by Dave McKean: a featureless, egg-smooth face with hands pressed over its eyes and mouth, a torn drawing of a wolf pinned to its forehead, surrounded by weathered books, dripping candles, and gnarled bare branches that creep through the shadows. The tableau feels like a still life from a fever dream, perfectly in keeping with Neil Gaiman's storytelling and Kent Williams' atmospheric interior art. If you're collecting the Polish run of Vertigo's most celebrated series, this volume is a striking addition to any shelf.
