Sad Sack Comics #143

Harvey's beloved Army everyman finds himself in quite a predicament on this 1963 cover by George Baker — Sad Sack bursts through a large blue barrel or pipe in a daze, stars spinning around his bewildered head, while a skunk wanders out from the same tube and a stern sergeant looks on from a safe distance. It's pure slapstick charm, the kind of cheerful, good-natured chaos that made this series "loved by millions" — and one glance at that cover makes it easy to see why.
