The concentric rings of orange and red on this cover pull the eye inward like a rifle scope closing in — and that's exactly what we're looking at: a dark silhouette of a splattered, outstretched figure centered squarely in crosshairs, suggesting someone has already been in the wrong place at the wrong time. Jorge Fornés's stark, graphic design work gives "Chapter Three" of Tom King's DC Black Label series an almost retro-thriller poster quality, with Dave Stewart's warm, burnt palette making the implied violence feel eerily calm. A compellingly ominous entry in this mature-readers mystery.
