After being out of Madrid for two days, Giorgio returns to discover his wife and friend were injured in an accident while being in the car together. Giorgio confronts Vanna about why they were together and she tells him they were delivering a ransom because Vanna had received a phone call claiming Giorgio had been kidnapped. Vanna had been convinced of the kidnapping because she had recognized Giorgio's voice, but he insists he had not been kidnapped even though she had not been able to contact him for two days.
