When the X-Men rush to defend a child from what they believe is a mutant attack, they're blindsided by the truth: the boy is no ordinary kid, but a human/Dire Wraith hybrid with the power to manipulate mutant abilities. As tensions rise and the team scrambles to correct their mistake, a desperate move by Kitty sends both the boy and Rom hurtling into the unknown—leaving the X-Men to face the consequences of their judgment.
In "West Virginia Reel," Rom races to stop a runaway prison transport, only to be drawn into a trap set by the Brotherhood of Evil Mutants. As the escape unfolds, the newly re-formed Hybrid emerges, and Mystique, Rogue, and Destiny flee into a remote house—where their path crosses with something far more dangerous.
In "Choosing Sides!", Mystique, Rogue, and Destiny find themselves at odds with the returning Hybrid—only to realize their true enemy is Rom, the alien warrior who sees them all as threats. As Rom races to confront Hybrid, the trio is forced to set aside their differences when they learn the creature’s plan to breed with mutant women, including the Brotherhood members. With Rogue absorbing Hybrid’s powers and Rom unleashing his neutralizer, the lines between ally and enemy blur—leaving Rogue with a surprising new awareness of Rom’s unwavering sense of right.
