Rogue: The Savage Land #4

History

The series was announced in September 2024 and grew, at least in part, from renewed fan attention to the Rogue–Magneto relationship sparked by the Disney+ animated series *X-Men '97*, though writer Tim Seeley publicly clarified it has no direct connection to that show. Seeley, known for creator-owned work such as *Hack/Slash* and *Local Man*, described the assignment as his ideal Marvel project and framed his approach as a fusion of his own sensibilities with Claremont's original setup — using Claremont's character work and dangling plot threads as scaffolding while writing in his own voice. Primary artist Zulema Scotto Lavina, an Italian artist making her Marvel debut after winning Disneyland Paris' 2024 Marvel Art Atelier, handled interior art on most issues; issue #4 features a guest turn by Von Randal, while cover artist Kaare Andrews maintained a consistent retro visual identity across all five issues by deliberately evoking Jim Lee's early-1990s X-Men aesthetic.
