“The Choice”

In "The Choice," Stephanie Brown steps into the role of Robin with cautious excitement, eager to prove herself under Batman’s strict guidance. Meanwhile, Tim adjusts to life without the mantle, finding unexpected comfort in the company of Darla Aquista, even as Scarab begins a chilling hunt—killing one of twelve boys, each a potential target in her twisted game. Written by Bill Willingham and brought to life with bold visuals by Damion Scott, with colors by Guy Major and letters by Phil Balsman, this issue’s cover by Alex Ross captures the weight of the moment.

Stephanie Brown is elated that Batman has agreed to her being the new Robin, so long as she obeys his every order and does well in her new training regimen. Tim slowly gets used to a new life without the Robin persona, and is even starting to warm up to Darla Aquista. Scarab, unable to pinpoint her target, Robin, starts killing the first of twelve boys, one of which she believes to be Robin.
