Riverdale High #5

This 1991 entry in Archie's Riverdale High series centers on Chuck, shown snoozing at his drawing table while a raucous crowd of cartoon animal characters — a lion, a wolf, and several others — tumble out of his sketchbook demanding he wake up and finish their story. The cover's playful "school notebook" design, complete with "This Book Belongs To" blanks and a "School of the Month" badge, gives the whole thing a wonderfully self-aware, meta-comics energy.
