“Ragnarick”

In "Ragnarick," Rick and Morty dive into a mythic origin story where humanity's fate was shaped by a single, accidental murder—when a clumsy human with a stick felled a god, proving divinity wasn’t invincible. Now, newly liberated and bizarre gods are rising to challenge Rick, while a young Jerry was once chosen to destroy him, thwarted long ago by his skeptical father. With Noelle seizing godhood after being abandoned in Anti Hala, the chaos escalates as old grudges and cosmic power shifts collide. Written by Alex Firer and brought to life with sharp, surreal art by Fred C. Stresing, the issue's cover by Stresing captures the absurd grandeur of this mythic turn in the series.

We learn the backstory of the gods' rule over humankind and how one inept human with a pointed stick tripped and accidently killed a god, proving the gods were fallible. From that point on, the deicide was unstoppable and no one did away with more gods than the man-of-science, Rick Sanchez. Jerry, as a child, was chosen by Nunzumel to destroy Rick, but was thwarted at the time by Jerry's cynical father. Some newly freed (and weird) gods begin their campaign against Rick. Noelle cons Nunzumel into giving her some god-powers and takes off against Rick and Morty for abandoning her in Anti Hala.
