Glug Vronsky, mad billionaire tech-genius, sends Creepworm to capture Rick and bring him to "The Infinidog", a vast orbiting platform in the form of a dog-eating-its-tail, serving as Vronsky's laboratory and base-of-operations. Vronsky idolizes Rick and wants to be his new best friend and adventuring-companion, now that Morty has walked away from Rick to rescue Noelle from the dead-god dimension of Anti Hala. As Vronsky is the only other human who has developed the portal tech for Morty's journey, he seeks out Vronsky, becoming an entry-level recruit - while hearing Rick's voice in his head.
