Rex Libris #4
In "Battle on Benzine!", Rex Libris and Simonides face off against a strange army of snowmen on a frozen world, their clash echoing a past accident in 19th century Afghanistan. As tensions rise and the truth behind the snowmen’s displacement by Vaglox unfolds, an uneasy alliance forms—only to be tested when Simon unexpectedly becomes their new leader. Meanwhile, back at the library, Circe turns Gaiseric into a pig, and on Benzine V, Rex and Simon are hunted by Vaglox’s forces. Written and illustrated by James Turner, this issue blends surreal action with quiet character moments, all under a striking cover by James Turner.

Rex and Simonides battle the snowmen, during which Simon accidentally shoots Rex, which reminds Rex of the time Simon accidentally shot him in 19th century Afghanistan. Eventually they make peace with the snowmen and learn they were displaced by Vaglox. The snowmen need a new leader but don't understand democracy and ultimately Simon rises to power as their new dictator. At the library, Circe transforms Gaiseric into a pig and his men surrender. On Benzine V, the snowmen lead Rex and Simon to Vaglox's city, but a patrol of Vaglox's men finds them.
