Revival #3
Tim Seeley and Mike Norton's "rural noir" keeps its unsettling momentum going in this third issue from Image's milestone 20th-anniversary year. Jenny Frison's cover pulls you right into the dread: a pale, ghostly figure looms in the foreground while a silhouetted woman — armed and backlit in a blazing doorway — stands at the top of a darkened staircase, with melting candles and what appears to be a skeletal hand scattered across the floor below. It's a quietly tense composition that captures everything Revival does so well — the collision of ordinary domestic spaces with something deeply, unmistakably wrong.
