In Red Sonja #8 (2014), the warrior is on a mission for the emperor, tracking down legendary artists across the realm—starting with the fearsome Beast Lord Kalayah. After a brutal clash in the arena, betrayal strikes from within as Kalayah’s assistant Rat turns the tide, leaving Sonja to name the traitor as the new master of the beasts. Written by Gail Simone and illustrated by Walter Geovani, with colors by Adriano Lucas and letters by Simon Bowland, the cover by Jenny Frison captures the issue’s fierce, high-stakes tension.
