Marvel's "She-Devil with a Sword" faces her most fearsome challenge yet in this September 1977 issue, as the cover — rendered by Frank Thorne — plunges Red Sonja into a pit swarming with not one but two massive, fang-bared dragons wreathed in flame, while skulls litter the arena floor and robed onlookers watch from the shadows. Sonja stands her ground in her signature chain-mail, sword and dagger at the ready, red hair blazing as wildly as the creatures closing in around her. It's a vivid, pulse-quickening image that captures everything the "Fire and Fury in the Age of Conan" tagline promises.
