The penultimate issue of Red Robin's ongoing run closes out 2011 on a tense note, with a cover subtitled "Deadly Promises" that says plenty on its own. Red Robin — battered and slumped in his red-and-black costume — is held by a long-haired figure whose hands crackle with eerie, smoke-like energy, the yellow background lending the scene an unsettling, charged atmosphere. With writing by Fabian Nicieza, interior art by Marcus To and Ray McCarthy, and a striking cover from the team of Alex Ross, Marcus To, and Ray McCarthy, this is a visually arresting chapter in Tim Drake's solo saga.
