Red Herring #4

From the bird's-eye view of a pale blue convertible, a sharp-jawed man with a shock of orange hair grips the wheel while a green alien creature sits buckled into a child's car seat in the back — an oddly domestic touch that speaks volumes about this series' sharp comic sensibility. Up on the sidewalk, a young woman in a pink dress laden with bags looks on with visible alarm. Publishers Weekly called it "an intriguing and complex tale of conspiracy, betrayal and murder," and Philip Bond's cover — all clean lines and wry staging — makes a strong case for that description. This WildStorm series from Tischman, Bond, and Hahn hits its fourth issue in January 2010 with the same off-kilter charm that makes Red Herring such a distinctive read.
