Punisher War Journal #2
This hardcover collects the second story arc of the 2007 Punisher War Journal series, written by Matt Fraction with art by Ariel Olivetti. The volume features Frank Castle clashing with the villainous Jigsaw and his brother Billy Russo, while also dealing with the fallout of his unauthorized war on crime that puts him at odds with Captain America, Iron Man, and S.H.I.E.L.D. agents like Maria Hill and Sharon Carter.
In "NYC Red," Frank Castle takes on a brutal test of loyalty as his final initiation into the National Force—forced to kill Stuart's girlfriend, Tatiana. When Stuart reaches out to Bridge for help, Frank dons a Captain America-inspired costume and launches a desperate assault on a Mexican lay-up colony, only to be captured by the very enemies he's trying to destroy. Written by Matt Fraction and illustrated by Ariel Olivetti, this issue blends relentless tension with a stark, grounded take on Frank’s descent into violence. The cover by Ariel Olivetti captures the grim intensity of the moment.
