Pretty Deadly #9
A lone dark-haired figure sits amid snow-dusted stone ruins, holding what appears to be a blood-tipped arrow while droplets of red fall to the frozen ground — it's a haunting, quietly devastating image that captures Pretty Deadly's signature blend of myth and mortality. Emma Ríos's cover work is beautifully spare, using a muted winter palette to make those scarlet accents hit all the harder, with Jordie Bellaire's coloring lending the crumbling landscape an almost dreamlike stillness. By issue #9, this series has proven itself one of 2016's most visually ambitious titles, and this cover is a striking reminder of why.
