Pretty Deadly #10
Pretty Deadly #10 closes out Image's haunting Western-mythological series with a cover that feels like a fever dream at the edge of the world — a lone rifleman stands amid swirling smoke and embers, flanked by two gnarled, otherworldly trees while a massive, ghostly hand reaches into the scene from the right. Emma Ríos's linework gives the composition an almost painterly restlessness, and Jordie Bellaire's muted palette of deep blues and warm amber embers makes the whole image pulse with quiet dread. Kelly Sue DeConnick's series has always walked the line between folklore and gunpowder mythology, and this tenth issue promises no shortage of either.
