Prelude to Deadpool Corps #1
Prelude to Deadpool Corps #1 marks the first team appearance of the Deadpool Corps, Marvel's audacious multiverse-spanning ensemble built entirely from alternate-reality Deadpool variants. The concept — that Wade Wilson's uniquely fractured mind makes him the only being immune to a consciousness-devouring cosmic entity — pushed the Merc with a Mouth squarely into cosmic-adventure territory while leaning hard into the franchise's signature self-aware absurdism. By assembling Lady Deadpool, Kidpool, Dogpool, and Headpool under one banner for the first time, the issue established a template for Deadpool multiverse storytelling that Marvel's film division would eventually adapt in Deadpool & Wolverine (2024), bringing several of these variants to a mainstream global audience.

The five-issue prelude miniseries was written by Victor Gischler and drawn in its first issue by Rob Liefeld — the artist who co-created Deadpool himself — giving the launch an in-universe sense of homecoming for the character's visual identity. Editor Axel Alonso oversaw the project, which Marvel positioned as a universe-spanning event timed to roll out across March 2010. The series fed directly into the subsequent 12-issue Deadpool Corps ongoing, with Gischler and Liefeld continuing as the creative backbone of that follow-up run.
