Plutona #5
The concluding chapter of Plutona arrives with a cover by Emi Lenox that is quietly unsettling in the best way — a lone blond child stands still and solemn among towering forest trees, a paper bag in hand, the purple-and-rose watercolor woods behind them feeling both beautiful and faintly ominous. It's a deceptively simple image that captures the series' tone perfectly: childhood innocence set against something much larger and more serious. Jeff Lemire brings this five-part story to a close with lettering by Steve Wands, and if the cover is any indication, the final chapter carries the same melancholy weight that has defined the series throughout 2016.
