“Bagatelle”

The "fabulous final issue" banner says it all — this 1989 send-off wraps the run with the same gleeful energy that defined it. Hilary Barta's cover captures Plastic Man mid-stretch, his elongated body contorting wildly as he reaches toward a colorful crowd of eccentric onlookers packed in all around him. It's a fittingly chaotic farewell from the team of Foglio, Barta, Nyberg, and Rice, with the tongue-in-cheek note that this is "not an Invasion! Aftermath Extra!" making clear the book never lost its sense of humor right up to the end.
