Derek infiltrates ape city and tracks down his missing gear to the office of City Ministrator Xirinius. Derek secretly witnesses General Gorodon murder Xirinius. Derek subdues Gorodon, recovers his gear, and frees the human slaves. Derek steals a horse-drawn cart and flees into the forest. On the other side of the forest, Derek discovers six barrels of gun powder in the cart he stole. With his new find he loads up a raft and takes off down a river. He sees an island and decides he will land there.
