“Hush Puppy”

The Riverdale gang trades the beach for the Wild West in Pep #365, as the cover — penciled and inked by Stan G. — delivers a lively two-panel dude ranch scene. Betty and Veronica look on in cowgirl gear while a laughing cowboy explains that "WHOA" is the magic word to stop a horse, and sure enough the bottom panel shows exactly what happens when someone shouts it — with Archie and a pal left standing wide-eyed nearby. It's a sunny slice of 1980 Archie humor, dressed up in spurs and Stetsons for a fun change of scenery.
