Pat Sullivan's Felix the Cat #68

Feb 1956 · Harvey · 0.10 USD
“(Not so) Merry-Go-Round”

In the whimsical chaos of a 1956 carnival, Felix the Cat finds himself cannon-balled over the fence to save Kitty’s admission—only to land in a mess of feathers and confusion. After a quick detour to a novelty booth, he has a cardboard silhouette made of himself, but when it comes to life, it’s the silhouette who starts chasing Kitty. A delightfully absurd twist in "Merry-Go-Round," written by Otto Messmer and Joe Oriolo with art by Messmer and inks by Oriolo, this issue captures the classic charm of the series, all wrapped in a cover by Joe Oriolo.

At a carnival and having only enough money to pay for Kitty's admission, Felix has himself fired from an army cannon over the wall and into the carnival. After a rough landing, Kitty suggests that Felix have a novelty "cardboard silhouette" of himself made at a carnival booth. He does, and the silhouette comes to life - and begins wooing Kitty.
