“The Phansom”

In "The Phansom," a 1954 EC Comics gem, the perpetually thwarted Phansom finds himself repeatedly foiled in his romantic advances—each time Dinah is kidnapped, leaving him trapped beneath the masthead’s logo. Written by Nick Meglin and Al Feldstein, with art by Bill Elder and coloring by Marie Severin, this quirky tale blends surreal humor and suspense, culminating in a twist that upends expectations. The cover by Bill Elder captures the story’s absurd charm perfectly.
