Outsiders #42

Part three of "Mad Scientists" finds the Outsiders in full combat mode, and this cover delivers the urgency in spades. Matthew Clark's artwork sweeps across the page in a dynamic cascade of figures — a close-up of a fierce-looking woman dominates the upper left, while Nightwing braces himself at center, a red-and-gold costumed hero kicks into the fray nearby, a blue-caped figure charges in behind her, and a ghostly female form lingers in the background alongside what appears to be Robin at the lower right. With Judd Winick scripting and the art team of Ron Randall, Pop Mhan, and Art Thibert on interior duties, this January 2007 issue keeps the team's gritty, action-forward momentum rolling at full speed.
