“Daughters of Death!”

Atop a captured enemy fortification, The Losers — Gunner, Sarge, and Capt. Storm, whose portrait medallions line the left side of the cover — man a heavy machine gun and brandish weapons while triumphant speech balloons declare they've secured the fort and shed their jinx at last, all while Axis helmets litter the ground below. Joe Kubert's cover pencils and inks give the scene real kinetic energy, the heroes crowding the ramparts against a vivid yellow sky with the bold "THE LOSERS" lettering dominating the fort's wall beneath them. Inside, Sam Glanzman handles the full creative load on "Daughters of Death!", making this 1970 issue a fine showcase for one of DC's most capable war-comics craftsmen.
