Joe Kubert's cover for this June 1973 issue plunges Sgt. Rock into a desperate mid-air struggle — he's locked in combat with an enemy soldier, both figures tumbling together above jagged rocks and crashing surf, with Rock wielding what appears to be a grenade as the two grapple at the cliff's edge. The cover question — "Will Sgt. Rock ever get back to Easy Co., or will he remain a castaway?" — sets up a tense survival scenario far removed from the front lines. Sam Glanzman handles the full interior art duties, making this a nicely focused package from two skilled hands working at the height of DC's war comics line.
