Joe Kubert's cover for this 1972 DC war title says it all: a cold, blue-uniformed German officer — the Iron Major — stands over a kneeling, battered Sgt. Rock, blade leveled and boasting that Easy Company has already been destroyed. The tension is palpable, with fallen soldiers scattered in the background and Rock clearly pushed to his limit but not yet broken. Written and drawn by Russ Heath, the interior story promises the kind of gritty, personal WWII drama that made Our Army at War one of the standout war titles of its era.
