Our Army at War #217
☆ Be the first to review + Add to your collection — Join freeJoe Kubert's cover for this March 1970 issue tells the whole tense story at a glance: Sgt. Rock and two of Easy Company's soldiers — one of them addressed as Bulldozer — paddle a rubber raft across dark water, weapons at the ready, while beneath the surface a squad of Nazi frogmen lurks in wait. The speech bubbles crackle with the kind of grim battlefield confidence Rock is known for, promising a "surprise party" that may not go quite as planned. Kubert's angular, battle-worn linework makes every face look like it's already been through a war, and that underwater menace gives the scene an unsettling, almost cinematic dread.
