This April 1968 issue of Our Army at War delivers one of the tensest cover images in the run: a sweat-soaked Sgt. Rock fills the left side of the frame, a Nazi-marked revolver pressed to his head, while a group of armed soldiers — Unit 3 — is warned to throw down their weapons or Rock is finished. Joe Kubert's cover art captures every bead of sweat and steely glare with remarkable intensity, making the threat feel genuinely immediate. The story title "A Firing Squad for a Sergeant!" promises high-stakes wartime drama at its grimmest, and at 12 cents it was one heck of a deal.
