Once & Future #14

Dan Mora's cover for issue #14 of Kieron Gillen's Arthurian thriller is a genuinely unsettling piece of work — a massive armored figure with a glowing skeletal face dominates the scene, looming over a fallen sword while a hooded, white-bearded figure clutches a staff at its side, and a horde of skeletal undead warriors presses in from the darkness behind them. Tamra Bonvillain's colors push the whole image into something lurid and atmospheric, with sickly greens, deep purples, and splashes of blood-red that make the threat feel very real. Once & Future continues to mine the darker corners of Arthurian legend with real conviction, and this cover makes a strong case for why the series deserves a place on your pull list.
