Nyoka the Jungle Girl #17

This Charlton gem from 1956 puts Nyoka right in the thick of it — the blond jungle girl levels a rifle point-blank at a snarling leopard while two bristling wild boars close in from below, all set against a dense tangle of jungle foliage. Maurice Whitman's cover art captures the three-way standoff with real tension, Nyoka's cool-headed expression suggesting she's faced worse odds before. With a story titled "The Last of the Slavers" waiting inside, issue #17 is a fine snapshot of mid-1950s adventure comics firing on all cylinders.
