Spider-Man has ripped off Doctor Octopus' mechanical arms but, while he is occupied fighting the Owl and Octopus gangs, Octopus comes close to killing the Black Cat. Spider-Man rushes her to the hospital where doctors have a difficult time saving her life. Octopus has his arms put back on.
