Night Force #1
DC's Night Force returns in 1996 with this "first fear-filled issue," plunging readers straight into supernatural dread with a cover — penciled by Brent Anderson and inked by Will Blyberg — that sets an immediately unsettling tone. Dominating the foreground is a determined man gripping a blood-streaked axe, while a shadowy figure looms behind him and an ominous, lightning-struck mansion burns red in the background. Writer Marv Wolfman launches his tale of "The Face of Evil" here, and if this cover is any indication, Night Force is back with all the gothic menace the title promises.
