New Heroic Comics #85 is an anthology featuring stories of heroic real-life actions during wartime. "Volunteer" depicts Master Sergeant Gene Grenowich of the 17th Infantry Regiment in Korea, whose walkie-talkie is destroyed during heavy enemy attack; he improvises by using his turrets to silence enemy antiaircraft fire, allowing his unit to maintain vital mortar support and ultimately escape. Another story, "Time Bomb," follows Army medic Sergeant Robert D. Hanson at a forward aid station near the Korean fighting front, where he administers care to wounded soldiers despite exhaustion and the constant danger surrounding him.
