This June 1991 issue puts Lightray front and center, streaking forward in a burst of golden light as he reaches out toward a dark-haired woman in a green dress who tumbles helplessly near what appears to be a vehicle — the cover tagline promising he races to save a life but heads "Into the Valley of Death!" instead. Mark Evanier and Rick Hoberg bring a real sense of kinetic urgency to this chapter of the Fourth World saga, and Hoberg's cover pencils (inked by Willie Blyberg) capture both the hero's determination and the civilian's desperate peril in one striking image.
