Dustin Weaver's cover for this 2014 installment of Jonathan Hickman's New Avengers run crackles with menace — Doctor Strange takes center stage, mystic energy blazing outward as Iron Man and a figure in a Fantastic Four uniform loom behind him, while a robed, skull-faced figure and a horde of monstrous creatures press in from all sides. The radiating beams of crimson light give the whole composition a desperate, siege-like energy that perfectly suits the Illuminati's ongoing battle against impossible odds. With art from Valerio Schiti and colors by Frank Martin, issue #20 — "Blu'Dakorr" — looks like a chapter that raises the stakes considerably.
