“Torture”

This January 1997 limited series pairing brings two of Marvel's most dangerous mutants together in a tense cover by Ariel Olivetti and Pier Brito — a snarling, blood-streaked Sabretooth looming over a bound, defiant Mystique, both wrapped in barbed wire against a stark crimson moon. The subtitle "Quality Time" adds a darkly ironic note to what looks like an anything-but-comfortable partnership. Writer Jorge González and artist Ariel Olivetti clearly aren't letting these two antiheros off easy in issue two.

Mystique and Sabretooth fight off AIM's techno-asassins and escape. Realizing that AIM has been tracking them through Sabretooth's inhibitor collar, Mystique is forced to remove it. The duo make their way to Catalyst's abandoned fortress only to find it swarming with Hydra goons. While Sabretooth battles Hydra agents, Mystique sneaks inside, only to be knocked out by the monstrous Dismember and Corrosion.
